|Global Employer Series: From Language Study to Alibaba, in conversation with Oliver Theobald
Cost: Free. Please note registration will commence at 18:30
Please RSVP by clicking hereFor many of us drawn by the dual allure of Chinese culture and spectacular economic growth, language study offers a convenient starting point. After all, to truly ‘understand’ China, language fluency is essential. Yet, for a China that is often said to embody ‘opportunities’, it can be strikingly difficult to figure out how best to go about embracing them. So where best to tyn to advice if not a man who’s managed to secure a position at one of China’s top companies set for global expansion- the Alibaba Group?
This friday, June 2nd we will be chatting with a prominent figure within the China-Australia space, oliver theobald, who will be sharing his insights on the transition from Language Study to working in China. As an Operations Specialist at Alibaba Cloud responsible for managing content marketing, website operations and user experience (UX) at China’s biggest tech company.
After all, aren’t you curious to find out how he got there?
The evening will start with a 20-minute presentation from Oliver, giving an overview of his diverse experiences and a brief introduction to Alibaba as a company. It will then be followed by a 20-minute discussion, moderated by ACYA, giving Oliver the chance to share insights on securing employment in china. Finally, we will finish up with a 20-minute Q&A and extended networking session, giving everyone the chance to ask follow-up questions whilst mingling with young professionals and fellow students.
